DVD films are now about the same price as VHS videos and there is usually a much bigger selection of DVDs that VHS videos in video shops now-a-days anyway.

On the other hand, DVD recorders and now coming down in price a lot! With these, you can record programs from the television directly on to a DVD disc the same as you would with a VHS tape, although of course retaining perfect sound and picture quality too.
